We are located at 1806/A in Phase 4 of the GIDC. This whole area is nothing but factories and warehouses, so it’s pretty industrial and not very green. At Awake Metals, we spend our days dealing with various types of metalwork. It gets very hot inside our unit, especially during the summer months when the sun beats down on the metal roof. The sound of metal hitting metal is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We have a few big machines that take up most of the space, and there are always stacks of sheets or rods waiting to be cut or shaped. The office is just a small partitioned area with a couple of old desks and a computer that’s seen better days. We don’t really do much in the way of sales talk; people just tell us what they need and we see if we can make it happen. Most of the staff has been here since we started, so we are more like a small family than a corporate office. We eat lunch together and complain about the heat or the commute. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. You won’t find any shiny brochures here, just a lot of hard work and some grease on our hands. The GIDC is a tough place to work, but we like the routine and the people.
