Green Punjabi Dhaba

If you’re driving down the Ahmedabad Highway towards Bhavnagar, you’ll eventually come across us at Vartej. Green Punjabi Dhaba is located right opposite the Sadguru Complex, near the Nari chowkdi. It’s a busy spot because of all the trucks and cars heading out of the city. We opened up here because we knew people on the highway always need a place to stop and stretch their legs for a minute. The air is always full of the sound of engines and horns, but we’re used to it after all this time. Inside, it’s just basic tables and chairs. We don't go in for anything complicated or expensive. Our kitchen stays busy from dawn until way past midnight. I spend a lot of my time talking to the drivers who come through; they have some interesting stories from the road to tell. Bhavnagar weather is mostly dry and hot, so we try to keep the place as cool as we can for anyone who comes in. It’s a family-run sort of vibe here, with everyone pitching in when the rush starts. We don’t have a menu with hundreds of items, just the usual stuff you’d expect at a dhaba on the highway. People know what they want when they walk in. The Nari chowkdi area is always changing, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. It's just a place to get some food and continue your journey. We don't bother with much else besides the cooking and the daily cleaning.
