Durga Traders

Our shop is in Ward- No.22 on Raja S.C.Banerjee Road. We are quite close to Jahaj Ghat in Adampur. Being near the Kali Mandir means we hear the temple bells throughout the day. It is a nice background noise while we work. Durga Traders is a small business and we handle a lot of different goods. The space is a bit cramped because we have boxes stacked almost to the ceiling. You have to be careful when you are moving around in there. I have definitely tripped over a few things over the years. The floor is made of old wood that creaks every time someone walks in. We get a lot of people who stop by after they visit the temple. We end up chatting with the neighbors for a long time. It is a very tight community here in Ward 22. The road outside is quite narrow and cars are always getting stuck or honking at each other. We just watch the mess from our doorway. We don't have a big marketing plan or a computer system. We just open the shutters in the morning and close them at night. It is a simple way to live. The air smells like incense from the Mandir most of the time. We really like it here because it feels like home. We keep our accounts in a handwritten ledger. It is old fashioned but it works.
