Our group is based out of Potilakpur, which is in the Sultanganj area. Kumar Bipin Sharma’s place is where we coordinate things. Most of us here are small-scale farmers. We grow stuff like rice or wheat depending on the time of year and what the weather looks like. It’s a local operation, nothing too big or complicated. We decided to get together as a company to make it easier to talk to buyers. When you’re just one person, it’s hard to get anyone to listen to you. In Potilakpur, we all know each other anyway, so it felt natural to work together. We don't have a fancy storefront or anything. It’s mostly just us meeting in the village or at the edge of the farm. We talk about the rain a lot because it's what runs our lives. If there’s a dry spell, we all feel it in our pockets. We try to share whatever resources we have, like a pump or a trailer when someone needs it. It’s not always easy and there are plenty of arguments about how to do things, but we get by. We focus on the practical side of farming. Getting the seeds in the ground and the harvest to the market is what matters. We don't spend money on marketing or anything like that. We just focus on the land we have here in Sultanganj. It’s a way to keep our families going for the long run.
