Over in the Banka district, specifically in the Belhar area, you will find our group. We go by the name Belhar Agro Farmers Producer Companylimited. Our main spot is located at Kamaleswari Prasad Singh’s house in Gorgawan. It is out near Po-Dumariya and Ps-Belhar. This is a very rural part of the state, and that is exactly where we belong. We are a collection of farmers who decided that joining up was better than trying to survive separately. Life in Gorgawan mostly revolves around the farming seasons. When it is time to plant the crops, everyone is out in the fields from dawn. When harvest time comes, it is even more hectic. The office at Kamaleswari’s house is where we meet to figure out our schedules and plans. It is very informal. You might find several of us sitting around drinking tea and talking about the lack of rain or the price of diesel. We do not use a lot of big business terms. We just want to make sure our crops are healthy and that we can get them to the market without too much trouble. Being a producer company in Banka has plenty of challenges, especially with transport on the bumpy roads. But we have lived here a long time and we know how to handle the local conditions. We are just regular people from the village trying to make a living.
