Yashaswi Engineering Services is right in the middle of the Sunkadakatte Kariyanna Industrial Area. If you come by, you’ll hear the sound of metal hitting metal and machines running from quite a distance. It’s a rough and ready environment, not a place for clean shoes or white shirts. We spend our days surrounded by heavy parts and the smell of cutting oil. The shed has high ceilings and a lot of grease on the floor, but that is how an engineering shop is supposed to look. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. Most people find us because they saw our sign while driving through the industrial estate. It gets very hot in the afternoons under the metal roof, but we have a few big fans that help a bit. Our tools are heavy and old, but they are reliable and we know how to fix them ourselves if they break. There’s no dress code here, just sturdy boots and clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. We usually have a short break around four in the afternoon to sit on some crates and have a drink. It’s hard work and the hours can be long when a big job comes in. We don't make a big deal out of what we do. We just make sure the machines are running and the parts are made correctly before we head home for the night.
