If you walk down 100 Feet Road in Indira Nagar, you'll find us at 2013. We spend most of our hours hunched over tiny gears and glass faces. It's quiet work, mostly because you need to concentrate when the parts are so small you can barely see them without the magnifying eyeglass. The shop isn't huge, but it's filled with tools we've collected over the years. Some are newer, but many are the old ones that still work the best for certain jobs. People bring in watches that stopped ticking years ago, or maybe just need a new battery or a strap. We see all kinds of brands, from the expensive ones to the old ones that have more sentimental value than anything else. Sometimes a customer comes in worried about a scratch, and we do what we can. It gets busy on Saturday afternoons when everyone is out running errands. My hands are usually a bit stained from the oils we use, but that’s part of the trade. The light in the front window is the best place to sit when the sun is out. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know the mechanics of a watch inside out. We've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit from this shop window. It’s a lot noisier outside now than it used to be years ago. We just keep our heads down and keep the clocks running for everyone.
