Vijay Times

Vijay Times is situated over at 41428 Bharati Vidypeth in Dhanakawadi. It’s a bit of an interesting spot because we also have some connection to the Whitefield area, though we are mostly here in Pune. The place is usually buzzing with students and people from the university nearby. It makes for a very energetic atmosphere throughout the day. Our shop is quite modest. We focus on watches and keeping track of time, hence the name. The shelves are lined with various models we’ve collected over the months. Some are brand new and others are a bit older and have more character. I spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases because the dust from the road outside settles on everything so quickly. It’s a constant battle every single day. The building is a typical structure, sturdy and functional. We don’t have any big neon signs or anything like that. People find us by word of mouth or by just stumbling upon us while they’re walking around Dhanakawadi looking for something else. The afternoons can be slow when the sun is high, but things pick up again once the temperature drops. I usually have the radio playing softly in the background to keep me company. It’s a one-man show for the most part. I handle the repairs and the sales myself. Sometimes my nephew comes in to help with the heavy lifting or moving boxes around. We just take things as they come and try to stay busy. It’s a good little spot for a local business.
