Vidya Bag Industries is set up at 19/3 Pal Chokdi. We are in the L P Savani area of Adajan Gam, Srirampuram. The sound of sewing machines is the main thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a rhythmic noise that we’ve all grown used to. We have long tables where the fabric is laid out and cut into pieces. There are spools of thread everywhere—on the shelves, on the floor, and sometimes in our pockets. We make all sorts of bags here, and the place is always full of scraps of material. It’s a bit messy, but that’s part of the making process. We don’t have a fancy showroom; people just come straight to where we work. The windows are usually open to let the heat from the machines out. Around Pal Chokdi, it can get pretty busy, so there’s always noise from the street mixing with our own. We have a small area where we keep the finished bags boxed up and ready to go. It’s honest work, and we take pride in the fact that our seams are straight and the handles are sturdy. We’ve been doing this in Srirampuram for a while now, and the neighbors know us by the constant hum of the workshop. We don't spend money on marketing or polished brochures. We just focus on making sure the zippers work and the stitching holds up under weight when people use them.
