Venkateshwara Times

Our shop, Venkateshwara Times, is at 198/1 on Punitnagar Road. We are right next to the Sri Venkateshwara Kalyana Mantapa, which is a big wedding hall that everyone in Gnanajyothi Nagar knows. When there is a wedding going on, we can hear the music and see all the guests in their fancy clothes walking past our window. The shop itself is in the Krishnashray building in the Maninagar area. We spend most of our time looking at watches and clocks. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the noise of the weddings next door. The shelves are lined with different models, and we have a small workbench where we do our repairs. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we use a lot of small lamps to see what we are doing with the gears and springs. The road outside can get quite dusty, especially during the dry months, so we are always wiping down the glass cases. It’s just a few of us here, and we’ve been in this neighborhood long enough that people recognize us when we go out for a break. We don't have any big goals other than keeping the shop running and making sure the clocks are all showing the right time. It’s a steady pace of life for everyone in this part of town, and we mostly like it that way.
