Varun Agro

We are located at number 119 on the 9th Main Road in Vidyaranyapura. Varun Agro is basically a place for people who need things for their land or gardens. It’s not a large shop, but we try to keep a good variety of seeds and basic tools on the shelves. The smell of the shop is hard to describe—it’s a mix of earth and dried goods. I’ve been working here for years, and I’ve seen the neighborhood change from mostly open fields to lots of houses. Still, people keep their gardens, so they come to us for advice or just to buy a bag of fertilizer. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about the weather and when is the best time to plant certain things. We aren't experts with degrees or anything, just people who have picked up a lot of knowledge from being around the trade for so long. The shop floor is usually a bit dusty because of the sacks we move around. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just shelves and counters. Sometimes the delivery truck comes and we have to spend the whole afternoon unloading and stacking bags. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We open early because that’s when the older folks like to do their shopping before it gets too hot. It’s a simple business, and we like it that way. No big corporate goals, just keeping the locals supplied with what they need for their plants.
