Over at Rabindranath Tagore Nagar on Ramaya Road No.135/C, you’ll find us at V M Confectionery Ltd. We spend our days surrounded by sugar, flour, and the smell of things baking. It’s a sweet job, but it’s also a lot of work. We’re usually up early to get the ovens going and the first batches started. The shop isn't very large, so the heat from the back usually fills the whole front area. We have trays of different treats laid out, and we’re always trying to keep the glass cases clean, though fingerprints always seem to find their way onto them. Most of our customers are folks from around R.T. Nagar who stop by for something small on their way home. We’ve been at this address for a bit, and we’ve gotten to know the neighborhood routines. It’s a bit of a family atmosphere here, even if we aren't all related. We argue about the recipes sometimes or whose turn it is to do the heavy mixing. By the end of the day, there's flour on the floor and we're all pretty tired. We don't do much in the way of fancy marketing; the smell of the shop usually does the work for us. We just focus on making things that people like to eat. It’s a simple business model, really. We make it, we sell it, and then we start all over again the next morning. It’s nice to see people enjoy what we make here on Ramaya Road.
