Uttam Silk Emporium

Uttam Silk Emporium is located at 78 on the 2nd Floor of the Sri Mahadeshwara Complex. It is in the Annexe Block over at the Brigade Mm Industrial Enclave on K R Road. Being in the 7th Block of Bangalore City means we are surrounded by a lot of other industrial buildings and warehouses. It’s not a place where people just wander in while going for a walk. You have to know we are here to make the trip up to the second floor. The stairs are a bit steep, and the lift doesn't always work like it should. Inside, it’s quite large because of the industrial layout, so we have plenty of room for the big rolls of silk. The windows look out over the enclave, which is mostly just trucks and workers moving boxes. It gets quite noisy during the day with all the machinery nearby. I usually bring my own lunch and eat it at the small desk near the back. The air feels different here than in the main shopping districts; it’s more about the work and less about the show. We keep the inventory organized by weight and type, which takes up most of my afternoon. Sometimes the neighbors from the other units come by to chat for a minute. It is a long day, especially when we have a big shipment coming in or going out. We just keep our heads down and get the tasks done.
