If you come down to the Sidco Industrial Estate in Ambattur, you’ll find us at number 72/1. It’s a busy area with a lot of small and big units all packed together. We’ve been operating from this spot for a while now. The work we do involves a lot of precision, but we don’t talk about it in a fancy way. We just show up, get the machines started, and see the jobs through. Ambattur has a certain rhythm to it, especially in the mornings when everyone is arriving for their shifts. Our workshop is usually humming with the sound of the equipment. We have a few long-term employees who basically live and breathe this place. They know every quirk of the machinery we use. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. Most of our work comes from word of mouth or people just knowing we’ve been in the estate for years. The coffee at the corner stall is what keeps us going during the long afternoons. Sometimes the rain in Chennai makes things a bit messy around the estate, but we just keep the shutters down and keep working. It’s a honest way to earn a living. We try to keep our paperwork organized, but the workshop floor is where the real action happens. That’s pretty much the story of Universal Forme India. We just keep our heads down and work as hard as we can.
