Thirumala Andhra Mess

Our mess is over in Krishnarajapuram, specifically at No.38 in A Narayanpura. We are on the PWD Main Road in Akshaya Nagar 2nd Block, right near the big water tank. Most people use the water tank as a landmark to find us. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We focus on Andhra style cooking because that’s what we know best. The kitchen is always humming with the sound of pressure cookers and pans. We start our day very early to make sure the rice and dals are ready. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags of rice and chopping heaps of chilies. We don't have any fancy machines to do the work for us. It’s just us and our hands. The area around Akshaya Nagar has grown a lot lately. More people are moving in, so the road gets busier every year. We have a small seating area, but it’s nothing fancy. Just tables and chairs for people to sit and eat quickly before heading back to work. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. People just find us by walking past or hearing about us from neighbors. It gets really hot in the middle of the day, but we stay busy. We take pride in just getting the food on the table. It’s a simple operation, really. No frills, just plenty of work to keep us busy from morning till night. We just hope the salt is right.
