About Tarana Sangeeth Bhavan – Education in Bengaluru
We’ve been over here on Bapubhai Vashi Road for a while now. Most people know us at 101 in Jeevan Bhima Nagar because you can usually hear someone practicing a raga or hitting a tabla if you walk by at the right time. It gets pretty loud in the afternoons when the students show up after their regular school is done for the day. Tarana Sangeeth Bhavan isn’t a fancy place with big signs or anything. We just have some rooms where we sit down and go over the notes. Sometimes the traffic outside is noisy, but we just try to focus on the music. I remember when we first set things up here, the walls were bare. Now they have some old photos and charts. People come in from all over the neighborhood. Some kids are just starting out and they don't know how to hold the instruments yet, which is fine. We spend a lot of time just tuning strings or making sure everyone is sitting right. It’s a lot of repetition, honestly. You play the same thing over and over until it sounds okay. We don't have a big office or anything, just the space where we work. Usually, there's some tea going in the back. It feels like a second home to a lot of us who spend our evenings here. We keep the doors open most of the time to get some air in. It’s just how we do things at Tarana Sangeeth Bhavan.
