Gig Music School

We are located over on Kotur Muthsandra Road in Varthur. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but for the folks living around Valepura and the Mutsandra Main Road area, we’re right in the neighborhood. Gig Music School isn't a giant conservatory or anything fancy like that. It’s basically a set of rooms where we keep our guitars, drums, and keyboards. The walls are lined with some egg-crate foam to help with the sound, though you can still hear the drums out on the street sometimes. It’s a bit messy with cables all over the floor and music stands that sometimes lean to one side, but it’s a working space. Most of our students come in the evenings after their regular school is done. You’ll see them walking down the road with their instrument cases. We started this place because we wanted a spot where people could just come and play without it being too formal. The teachers here are just musicians who know their stuff and want to pass it on to the kids. Sometimes we have two or three lessons going at once, so the mix of sounds can get a bit wild. We don't have a big front desk or a waiting room with magazines; usually, parents just stand outside or sit on the steps while they wait for the hour to finish. It’s just a local music spot for the community where people can come and learn some tunes.
