T R Mahalingam Memorial School Of Music

Our music school, T R Mahalingam Memorial School Of Music, is situated at J P Nagar 1177. It’s a house that we’ve turned into a space for learning. You can usually hear some sort of instrument being played from the street before you even reach the gate. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a good kind of noise. We have instruments tucked into every corner of every room. Some are old and have seen better days, but they still sound right to us. We don't have a formal front desk or anyone in a uniform waiting to greet you. You just walk in and find someone. J P Nagar is a nice neighborhood, and we’ve become a part of the daily background noise for our neighbors. The rooms are a bit small, and the acoustics aren't perfect, but it works for what we do. We have a small garden out front that’s a bit overgrown because nobody has time to weed it. We’re much more focused on the music anyway. Sometimes we sit on the porch and just talk about old songs for hours. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule or anything like that. Things happen when they happen. It’s a place for people who actually care about the craft, not just looking for a certificate. We’ve been here for years, and the walls are filled with photos of people who have passed through. It’s our second home.
