We’ve been based out of Subbanna Industrial Estate for quite some time now, right behind Metropolis. It’s a busy spot near the Mahadevapura Kumbharia Bus Stand where there is always something moving. The shop isn't fancy, just a regular engineering place where the machines run most of the day. You can hear the metalwork from the street before you even get to 91/2. We deal with whatever comes through the door, mostly mechanical stuff that needs fixing or making from scratch. It gets pretty dusty in here, especially when the wind picks up around the estate. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we all know the rhythms of the machines and the local tea stall nearby. Life is mostly about getting the job done and dealing with the heat. We don't spend much time on the office side of things because the real work happens on the floor. People find us because they know the area or saw our name near the bus stand. It’s noisy, there’s grease everywhere, but that’s just how an engineering workshop is supposed to be. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. It's a simple way to make a living, focusing on the metal and the measurements. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with the tools we have in the shop.
