Sumathi's veg restaurant

Sumathi's veg restaurant is down in BTM Layout 2nd Stage, specifically in the Chaitnya Nagar area. We are right near the Raj Lake View Apartments. It’s a very residential neighborhood with lots of people living in flats. Because of that, we get a lot of folks who don't want to cook at home after a long day. We open up early to get the tiffin items ready. You can hear the steam from the idli cookers from the sidewalk. The restaurant isn't very large, so during the breakfast and dinner hours, people are often standing and waiting for a stool to open up. We don't have any fancy menus or waiters in uniforms. It's just us in our regular clothes serving food on steel plates. The floor is often a bit wet from being mopped so many times a day. We spend a lot of time grinding the batter for the next day. The noise of the grinder is just part of the background here. BTM can be very crowded with traffic, especially near the lake side. We see a lot of young people who have moved to Bangalore for work. They come in for a quick meal before heading to their offices. We don't do anything special for decor, just some basic tables and a counter where you pay your bill. It’s a simple life of making sambar and making sure we don't run out of supplies.
