Agn Kalyan Mandira

Agn Kalyan Mandira is a familiar sight for anyone who travels down Banneraghatta Road near Bhairoba Nala. It is a large building that has seen many weddings and family gatherings over the years. We spend a lot of our time sweeping the main hall and making sure the plastic chairs are lined up straight for the next event. The stage has seen better days, but with some fresh flowers and a bit of cloth, it still looks good enough for photos. The parking area is always a bit of a headache because of the heavy traffic on the road outside, so we spend a lot of time directing cars and scooters into tight spots. During the wedding season, we are here until the early hours of the morning, cleaning up leftover decorations and scraps of paper. It is not a modern, air-conditioned venue with glass walls, but it has plenty of space and it is affordable for families in the area. We have a small crew that takes care of the plumbing and the lights, which seem to need fixing quite often. The kitchen area in the back is quite large and has stone counters that have been worn smooth by years of use. We do not do much advertising because most people just know us from having attended a function here before. It is a simple, hardworking place that serves the community's basic needs for a gathering spot.
