St Marys Engineering Works

We’ve been at this spot on Ganganagar 100 Feet Road for a good while now. It’s noisy outside with the traffic, but inside St Marys Engineering Works, we’re mostly focused on the machines. The floor is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or oil, and that’s just how it goes when you’re doing this kind of work. We aren't a big fancy operation. Most days it is just us handling whatever comes through the door. The building at 17/1 isn't hard to find if you know the road, but the parking can be a bit of a headache during the rush hour. We spend a lot of time just making sure the parts are right. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning just getting things calibrated again. It’s not always glamorous. We have our tea breaks out front and watch the bikes go by. It’s a lot of manual work and getting our hands dirty is part of the deal. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just the guys here making things work. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Some new shops opened up down the street, but we’re still here doing the same stuff we’ve always done. The lights in the back flicker sometimes, but we know exactly where everything is kept on the shelves. It’s just a normal engineering shop where we try to get the jobs done without too much fuss. We keep the doors open for the breeze when it’s not too dusty out. It’s a simple life.
