Sri Vinayaka Watch Centre

Down at 27 Udayanagar Main Road in Doorvani Nagar, you’ll see our sign for Sri Vinayaka Watch Centre. It’s a simple shop where we spend our days fixing timepieces. I’ve lived around here for a long time, so opening a shop in Udayanagar felt like the right thing to do. The workspace is narrow, and I have my tools laid out exactly where I can reach them without looking. There are watches hanging everywhere, some waiting for parts and others ready to be picked up. My eyes get tired by the end of the day from looking at those tiny movements, but I’ve done it so long I don’t think I could do anything else. The road outside can be quite dusty, so I keep the glass cases closed tight to protect the movements. People from the neighborhood stop in for all sorts of things, like a new leather strap or just to ask why their clock is running slow. I try to explain it’s usually just a bit of old oil or a worn-out spring. We don’t do any big advertising; word of mouth has always been enough to keep us going. It’s a quiet life, mostly just the sound of the tweezers clicking and the occasional customer coming through the door. We’re just here to keep the neighborhood on time, one watch at a time, every day except Sundays. It's what we know.
