Sri Shanthalakshmi Eng Works

Sri Shanthalakshmi Eng Works is located at 74/1 Jalahalli, right off Tumkur Road. This is a busy stretch of road with a lot of heavy traffic, especially in the mornings when the big trucks are moving through. Our workshop isn't very large, but we've managed to fit all the necessary tools and benches inside. We do a lot of metalwork and machining here, so the sound of grinding and welding is pretty much constant throughout the day. We wear our old clothes because they’re going to get dirty anyway from the sparks and the oil. It’s a bit of a messy environment, but that’s just how engineering work goes. We’ve been at this spot for several years now and have gotten used to the rhythm of the place. The tea stall down the road is where we usually go when we need a short break from the noise. We don't have a fancy office or a secretary to answer the phones. Usually, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and picks up the mobile when it rings. We take on all sorts of small jobs that people bring in, sometimes things that need a quick fix or a custom part made from scratch. It’s hard work and the days are long, but we like being able to see what we’ve built at the end of the shift. It is just how we earn our living here in Jalahalli.
