Sri Prakash Sarees Centre

Our place is over at Achanak Colony, tucked into the A Wing at 44/46 on Avenue Road. It’s a busy part of the city, and finding a place to park is always a headache for anyone visiting. We’ve been running Sri Prakash Sarees Centre from this spot for quite a while now. The shop is mostly filled with shelves from floor to ceiling. We try to keep things in order, but when we’re showing sarees to customers, the counters get covered in fabric pretty quickly. It’s a lot of folding and unfolding every single day. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just this one room where we do everything from taking orders to packing them up. The light in here isn't great, but we have a few tube lights that help. Most of the people who come in are regulars from the colony or folks who have been coming to Avenue Road for years. We don't do much talking except to explain what we have in stock. It’s a quiet life in some ways, despite the noise from the street. Sometimes my son comes in after school to help with the heavy boxes. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to run a decent shop and make sure the sarees are good quality. It’s what we know how to do, and we’ve been doing it a long time. The tea vendor knows our order by heart now.
