Sri Jagadeshwari Engineering Works

Being in Peenya Industrial Estate means you’re surrounded by factories and smoke all day long. Our place, Sri Jagadeshwari Engineering Works, is at Plot No-C-72 in the 2nd Stage. It’s a gritty area, but it’s where the real work happens in this city. We do a lot of heavy metalwork and fabrication. The machines we have are heavy and they make a lot of noise, which is just the sound of business to us. We’ve had this spot for a while now. The roof leaks a little when the monsoon hits hard, but we just move the machines and keep going. We don’t have a big office staff or anyone to answer the phones half the time. Most of the time we are out on the shop floor. Our clothes usually have oil spots on them by ten in the morning. That’s just the life of an engineer in a place like this. We work with a lot of the other shops around Peenya. Sometimes we trade tools or help each other out when a job is too big for one shop. It’s a community of workers. We don't put out brochures or advertisements. People just find out about us through word of mouth or because they saw our sign while driving through the estate. It’s a hard way to make a living, but it’s what we know how to do. We keep the doors open as long as there is work to finish.
