Sri Durga Engineers

Our workshop is located at number 5 inside the St. Antony Industrial Estate. It is about ten kilometers down Kanakapura Road, so it takes a little bit of travel to get out here from the main city center. The estate itself is a mix of different small factories and sheds, and we fit right in with our heavy machinery and metal scraps. We do a lot of engineering work that involves a fair amount of sweat and heavy lifting throughout the day. The roof of the shed gets pretty hot in the summer afternoons, so we usually try to get the hardest tasks finished before noon. We aren't big on paperwork or sitting in front of computer screens all day long. Most of the time, we are standing by the lathes or moving parts around with the manual hoist. It is a very hands-on kind of environment where everyone knows their job and just gets on with it. The tea stall right outside the estate gate is where we take our breaks and talk about the day's progress. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, but we just throw down some sand and keep moving. We’ve been in this specific spot for quite a few years now and have grown quite fond of the routine. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We just show up and do the work.
