Sri Basaveswara Engineering Works

The workshop is at No. 40/A on the 8th Cross in Balaji Nagar. We’re in the Peenya Second Stage area, which is mostly industrial shops like ours. The Muneshwara Temple is right nearby, so you can often hear the bells or the music from there while we’re working. It’s a loud place. Between the welding and the grinding, there’s always some kind of noise coming out of our doors. We’ve got metal scraps and tools all over the place. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have a big project on the floor, but we manage to move things around. My hands are usually stained with oil, and my work clothes have more than a few holes in them. We don't do fancy marketing or have a big sign outside. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they saw us working while passing by the temple. We focus on fixing things and making parts that actually last. It’s a small shop, just a few of us who know our way around the machines. We spend a lot of time standing on the concrete floor, so our backs usually ache by the time we lock up at night. We’ve been in Peenya for a good while now and have seen many other shops open and close. We just keep doing our thing, one job at a time, without making a big fuss about it. The tea stall on the corner knows exactly how we like our drinks.
