Down here in Kanyakumari, things move at a certain pace. Sree Balaji Cranes is located at Arul Illam in Puthukadai Post. If you know the area, you know it's a beautiful part of Tamilnadu. We deal with cranes, which means a lot of heavy lifting and maintenance. The machines are big and they need a lot of looking after. We spend most of our mornings checking the oil and the cables. It’s not just about driving them; it’s about making sure they don’t break down when someone is counting on them. The South India sun is strong, so we try to get the heavy outdoor work done before noon if we can. Sometimes we have to travel out to different sites in the district. It’s a lot of driving on narrow roads, but that’s part of the job. Our office is a simple place. We have some chairs, a desk with a lot of logs on it, and usually some coffee going. We don’t really have a big sales team. People call us because they know we have the equipment and we know how to use it. It’s a practical business. We focus on the gear and making sure the operators know what they are doing. It keeps us busy enough throughout the year. There is always something that needs grease or a bolt tightened, so we never really sit still for very long in this heat.
