About Somani Alloys – Metals & Minerals in Bengaluru
Our place, Somani Alloys, is over at 25 B T M 1st Stage. We are right on 35th Main in Dollar Colony. It’s a nice enough area, a bit more relaxed than the city center. The building is pretty basic. I spend most of my time managing the alloy stocks and talking to suppliers on the phone. The office has a big window that looks out onto the street, so I watch the world go by while I work. We have some samples laid out on a table, but they’re mostly covered in a thin layer of dust. The fan above my head wobbles a bit, but it hasn't fallen down yet. I’ve been in the alloy business for a long time and I know the local market well. Most of my day is spent checking weights and making sure the deliveries are ready to go out. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have worked together for years. We know each other’s habits and how we like our tea. It’s a steady kind of work. Dollar Colony is a good place to be based. The 35th Main can get busy during rush hour, but otherwise, it’s fairly calm. We don’t put on any acts here. It’s just an honest day's work dealing with metals and keeping the books straight. I usually lock up around six and head home. It is not fancy, but it is what we do.
