Our place, Mahrishi Alloys, is situated on Hosahalli Main Road. We are pretty close to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is a good way to find us if you get lost. Lalbaugroad and the Gopalan Mall are also nearby, so there is always a lot of traffic passing by. The office itself is a bit older. We have high ceilings and some heavy furniture that has been around for decades. Because we handle alloys, the environment is very industrial. There are often stacks of material being moved around outside. Inside, it’s mostly us tracking orders and talking to suppliers on the phone. The noise from the main road is constant, but you stop noticing it after a while. We have a small staff, and everyone knows what they are supposed to do. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find modern art on the walls. We have a calendar and maybe a clock that is five minutes fast. Lunch breaks are usually taken together at the small table in the back. We talk about the weather or the traffic mostly. It’s a straightforward life here. We’ve seen the mall go up and the area change, but our routine at the alloy shop stays pretty much the same. We just keep our heads down and get the metal moved.
