Shree Laxmi Times

We’ve been here in the Unity Building for a long time now. Most people know us because we’re right opposite the Uma Theatre on Patalamma Temple Street. My father started this because he liked how watches worked and I just stayed on to help him. Chamrajpet has changed a lot since then. The ground floor stays a bit cool even in the summer which is nice. We mostly spend our days looking at tiny gears and changing batteries for folks who stop by on their way to work. It’s a small space but it’s ours. Sometimes people come in just to talk while they wait for a strap to get fixed. We have all kinds of clocks on the walls and they all tick at different times so it’s never actually quiet in here. Some days are busy and some are slow but that’s just how it goes with a small shop like this. We try to keep things organized but there are always tools lying around on the workbench. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or anything. Just a regular counter and some stools for customers to sit. We’ve seen the theatre crowds change over the years. It’s a good spot to be. If you’re walking down the street you can usually hear the chime of the big wall clocks. We just keep doing what we do every day. It’s a simple life.
