Our shop, Shivu Time Centre, is located at 159 near Mysore Circle in the Chamrajpet area. Chamrajpet is one of those older parts of the city where things feel a bit more traditional and slower. We’ve got a small space here, and it’s usually filled with the sound of ticking clocks from the moment we open the shutters in the morning. Being so close to Mysore Circle means there’s never a quiet moment outside with the traffic and the people walking by. We focus mostly on repairs and keeping old mechanical clocks running. A lot of the stuff brought to us has been in families for a long time, so we take our time with each piece. The workbench is right near the front window so we can see who is coming in. It’s got all the scratches and marks you’d expect from years of hard use. We don’t have any polished sales talk or anything like that. If something can be fixed, we say so, and if it’s not worth it, we’re honest about that too. The walls are covered with all sorts of timepieces, some for sale and some just waiting for their owners to pick them up after repair. We usually have a small radio playing softly in the background to keep us company while we work on the tiny gears. It’s a humble spot, but it serves the people around here just fine. We just stick to what we know and keep the shop running.
