You’ll find Sharavathi Engineering Company down on OTC Road in Chickpet, at number 664. Being in Chickpet means it’s always a scramble to get anything done with all the carts and people in the way. Our shop is focused on engineering parts and metal works. We have a lot of heavy stuff sitting on the floor—lathes, bits of steel, and old machinery. It’s oily and noisy, but that’s the nature of the job. We’ve been at this 664 address for a long time. The building is old and the walls have grease marks everywhere. We mostly work with local contractors and people who need specific parts made. There is usually a lot of clanging and the smell of cutting oil in the air. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you come in, you just talk to whoever is free at the workbench. We try to be accurate with the measurements, even if the shop looks a bit chaotic to an outsider. It’s a small team of us, and we mostly just focus on the technical side of things. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a piece of work because someone needs it by morning.
