Service Engineer

You can find us over at Suresh Babu’s place on the fifth floor of F Block. Being at number 115 on N. M. Road in Aminjikarai means we get a bit of a breeze, which is nice because Chennai stays so warm. We don't have a big sign out on the street, so you have to know where you're going. The elevator works most of the time, but we’ve had to carry heavy gear up the stairs more than once. Our workspace as service engineers is pretty crowded with benches and testing equipment. We aren't trying to be a big corporate office with fancy furniture. Most of our chairs are a bit wobbly and the desks are scratched up from years of work. We spend our time looking at circuit boards and trying to figure out why things stopped running. It’s a lot of quiet work, interrupted by the occasional sound of a drill or a soldering iron. We eat our lunch at our desks most days because there’s always something that needs finishing. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People usually just hear about us from their neighbors or friends. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We aren't doing anything world-changing, just fixing what's broken and making sure people can get back to their own jobs. It's just us up here on the fifth floor, doing the best we can with the tools we have.
