Sandesh Granites

Sandesh Granites is out at 47/3b Kodigehalli. It’s more of a yard than a shop, really. We have these big slabs of granite leaned up against each other. They are heavy and cold to the touch. The ground is usually covered in a bit of stone dust, no matter how much we try to sweep it away. It’s just the nature of the business. We spend the day outside mostly, or under the basic tin roof when it rains. Kodigehalli is a bit away from the main city buzz, so we have some space to move the trucks in and out. Handling stone is slow work. You can't rush it or you’ll crack something expensive. We wear thick boots because of the uneven ground and the weight of the slabs. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear your best clothes. We have a small cabin where we keep the bills and a few samples of the different colors and patterns. Most of the time, we are just waiting for the next load to arrive or helping a customer pick out a piece that doesn't have too many natural marks. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. It’s just us, the stone, and the crane we use to lift the heavy stuff. It’s hard work, and by the end of the day, our backs usually ache, but it's what we do. We’ve been at this spot for a good while now.
