Our yard for Ak Marble & Granite (India) Pvt. Ltd. is over at Plot No. 105 in the Kiadb Industrial Area. We are right on the Bommasandra Jigani Ring Road, which is a major spot for this kind of industry. The area is always loud with the sound of machinery and heavy trucks moving back and forth. It’s a big industrial plot because you need a lot of room for all these granite blocks and marble slabs. We spend the whole day outdoors or in the large sheds, dealing with the raw stone. It’s a very dusty environment, and everyone usually ends up with a layer of grit on them by noon. The Ring Road traffic can be a nightmare sometimes, especially when we are trying to get our own trucks out. We have cranes and heavy loaders to do the hard work of moving the stock around. It’s not a place for fancy shoes or clean clothes. We look at the quality of the stone, check for cracks, and manage the logistics of shipping it out. The sun beats down on the yard, making the stone quite hot to the touch in the summer. We have a small office on the side for the paperwork, but most of the real work happens out on the concrete. It’s a tough, busy place, but that’s just the nature of the stone business in an industrial zone like Bommasandra.
