We are located down at No.676 in the Beerappa Compound on Pipeline Road. It’s a busy spot here in Mathikere and we’ve been around for a while now. Most days start really early for us, way before the sun is even up. We have to head out to the main markets to pick out the fresh flowers because if you go late, all the good stuff is gone. By the time we get back to the shop, the tea stalls nearby are just opening. We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor trimming stems and sorting through roses, jasmine, and lilies. The shop always smells like a mix of wet leaves and heavy perfume, which isn't a bad way to spend a morning. People stop by on their way to work or the temple, usually in a hurry. We try to keep things organized but when there’s a big festival or wedding season hits, the whole place gets covered in petals and string. It’s hard work on the hands, especially with the thorns and the cold water in the buckets. Sometimes the traffic on Pipeline Road gets so loud you can’t hear yourself think, but you get used to it after a few years. We just keep doing what we do, making sure the garlands are tied tight and the flowers stay fresh in the heat. It is just a small place but we keep busy every day from morning until late evening.
