S K Srinivas (Murthy)

S K Srinivas, though most people just call him Murthy, runs this place at No 6/5 on the 3rd Main Road in Chamarajpet. We are tucked away on the 9th Cross, right beside the Iyengar Bakery. That bakery is a good landmark because everyone knows it. Our place is usually humming with activity from the crack of dawn. Murthy is usually the first one in, checking the lists and seeing what needs to be bought from the market. We do things the old-fashioned way here. No fancy gadgets or high-tech systems, just people who know how to handle a ladle and a heavy pot. Chamarajpet is an old area, and we like the history of it. The street gets quite crowded, especially on weekends, but we managed to find our rhythm. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just walk in or call the landline. It’s worked for us for a long time. The team is small, but we’ve worked together for so long that we don’t even have to talk much to know what needs to be done. We focus on getting the flavors right. If the salt is off, Murthy will definitely let you know. We just want to make sure the food is ready on time. That is the main thing we worry about every single day. We are just a group of people who enjoy feeding others and keeping the tradition alive in Chamarajpet.
