Rolling Pins

Lingarajapuram is where our day begins and ends. We are located at No 12/13 on 5th Cross in Anantharam Layout. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze on this street. If two cars come from opposite directions, one usually has to back up. Rolling Pins is just a name we picked, but mostly we are just bakers. Inside the shop, there are heavy bags of flour stacked up against the walls. The ovens are almost never turned off. It gets very warm in the back rooms. We don't have a fancy display case with glass and lights. People just know to come by when the bread is fresh. My hands are usually covered in some sort of dough or sugar by midday. The 5th Cross is mostly residential, so we have to keep the noise down in the early hours. Our neighbors are mostly families who have been here as long as we have. We don't do any big advertising campaigns. Word of mouth seems to work well enough for us. Sometimes we sit on the steps outside during our break to get some fresh air. The layout is peaceful compared to the main road. We keep our tools clean and our workspace simple. There isn't any corporate polish here. Just a few people working with their hands to make something decent. That’s our life at 12/13 Anantharam Layout.
