Raman Friendship Club

The club is over at 121 Mahathma Gandhi Road near the Gujarat University Road area. It is an older building and you have to walk up some narrow stairs to get inside. The rooms are mostly filled with plain wooden tables and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. We have some boards for games and a few old magazines scattered around on the side tables. Since we are so close to the university we see a lot of students walking by but the people who come inside are usually members who have been coming for a long time. It is a quiet place for the most part. You can hear the hum of the traffic from MG Road but it feels far away once you are inside the room. We keep a kettle going for tea and there is not much in the way of decoration on the walls. People just come here to sit and talk with their friends for a few hours to get away from the noise of the city. We spend our time keeping the place tidy and making sure there is enough water. The lighting is a bit dim but no one seems to complain about it. It is just a simple space where people know they can find a chair and some company. We have been in this same spot for quite a while now.
