Raj Engineering Works

Madhavanpark is a decent area to work in. Our place, Raj Engineering Works, is on the 7th Main, West Of Chord Road in the Industrial Town part of A D Halli. Being at number 14 means we get a lot of trucks passing by. The noise is something you just get used to after the first week. We have a large open area where we keep the raw materials. It’s mostly iron and steel piles that we move around with a small trolley. The floor is stained with oil in a few places, which is expected in an engineering shop. We have a couple of heavy-duty presses that make a rhythmic thudding sound all afternoon. The guys here at Raj Engineering Works are mostly locals from around A D Halli. We don’t have a fancy lunchroom, so we just sit on some crates near the front door when it’s time to eat. There’s a lot of grease and grit involved in what we do. We don't pretend it’s a clean office job. It’s physical and it’s loud. We keep our blueprints rolled up on a shelf that’s slightly out of reach. Sometimes we lose a wrench and spend twenty minutes looking for it under the scrap pile. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s our system. We’ve been part of this industrial town for a long time, and we know our neighbors.
