Raj Engineering Co.

Raj Engineering Co. is tucked away in City Market at No.-2, J N J Lane. It is right near the H.P. Road Cross. If you have ever been to City Market, you know how crowded it gets. The lane is so narrow that you can barely fit a cart through sometimes. Our shop is small and full of grease. We do a lot of mechanical work and part repairs. We have these old machines that have been running since before I started here. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the hum of a lathe in the background. It is not a place for someone who likes to keep their clothes clean. We have tools everywhere, hanging on nails or piled on workbenches. Usually, we are working on something for a customer who needs it immediately. We do not really have a front office—you just walk in and talk to whoever is not holding a wrench at the moment. Sometimes we have to move three things just to find the one tool we actually need. It is a bit chaotic, but we know where everything is, mostly. Lunch is usually a quick bite from the nearby stalls because there is always someone coming in with a broken part. We do not do much advertising. People just find us by word of mouth or because they have been coming here for twenty years to get their repairs done.
