Prs Engineering Works

We’ve been running Prs Engineering Works out of this spot on 3rd Main in Ramachandrapuram for a long time. It’s a small shop, number 4/4. You might miss it if you aren't looking closely, as we are sandwiched between a couple of other workshops. Inside, it’s mostly lathe machines and workbenches covered in tools and oily rags. There is a specific smell of cutting oil that never really leaves the place. We do a lot of custom work—people bring in a broken part or a drawing, and we try to make it for them. It’s slow work sometimes, requiring a lot of patience. My father taught me most of what I know about machining, and I’m trying to pass that on. We don’t have a website or any of that modern stuff. We just rely on the quality of the things we turn out. The neighborhood is loud, with constant traffic and other shops working, but we’re used to it. Lunch is usually something we get from the corner shop or bring from home. We don't have a lot of space for storage, so we try to get jobs finished and out the door as quickly as we can. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and focusing on the details. We just take one job at a time and try to get it right. Some of the older machines need a bit of a kick to start, but they still work fine.
