Pratik Silk Kendra

You can find us at 13 Pratik Plaza, up on the 1st Floor. We are right on Gurukul Road near Subhash Chowk in Kalasipalyam. Being on the first floor means people have to walk up the stairs, which some find annoying when they are carrying bags. The plaza is always busy with people running errands. Downstairs there are a few other businesses, so there is a lot of shouting and noise from the street that comes up through the windows. I usually spend the first hour of the day just rearranging the silk piles that got tilted over. The floor space isn't huge, so we have to stack things pretty high. It smells like old fabric and incense in here most of the time. Kalasipalyam is a hectic place to work, but you get used to the pace after a couple of years. We don't really do much fancy decorating. The walls are plain, and the lighting is just those long tube lights that flicker sometimes. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour and we just sit in the dark talking to whoever is in the shop. It is a practical space for what we do. We mostly deal with people who know exactly what they are looking for and don't need a lot of fuss. By the time the sun goes down, the street outside is a mess of traffic, and we just lock up and head home like everyone else.
