Prabha Engineers

Our place, Prabha Engineers, is located over at 118 Thilagar Street. It is part of the 25th Avenue in Banu Nagar, which is in the Pudur area of Ambattur. If you know Chennai-600053, you know it’s a lot of workshops and small units. We have been here for a long time now. The street can get a bit crowded with delivery trucks and people moving materials around. It is a bit loud most days because of the machines running, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We have our tools and our benches set up inside. It is not a clean, shiny office with air conditioning everywhere. There is grease and metal dust, and the floor is usually covered in scrap. We spend most of the day fixing things or putting parts together. It’s practical work. My hands are usually dirty by lunch time. We drink tea from the stall down the road and talk about what needs to be finished before the sun goes down. Thilagar Street has a lot of small businesses like ours, so we all know each other pretty well. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website guy. We just open the shutters in the morning and get to work on whatever is on the bench that day. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We mostly just focus on getting the jobs finished on time and keeping the shop organized.
