Plus 91

Plus 91 is tucked away in Mahadevapura on Harikrishna Road, right near Shivananda Circle at unit F-25. People often ask about the name, but we just thought it sounded alright when we were starting out. This part of town has changed a lot lately with all the new buildings going up. We used to have a smaller spot, but we moved here about two years ago to get a bit more breathing room. It’s still not huge, but it works for what we do. The staff is mostly young guys from the neighborhood who needed work. We aren't professionals who went to some big culinary school; we just learned by doing things the hard way. Some days the kitchen gets way too hot because the ventilation isn't perfect, and we all end up stepping outside for air. We serve a mix of things depending on what's available at the market that morning. If the tomatoes are too expensive, we change the menu. That's just how it goes. The floor tiles have a few cracks from when we dropped a heavy crate during the move, and we haven't gotten around to fixing them yet. We keep the lights a bit low because it feels more comfortable that way. It’s a place where you can just sit and not feel like someone is watching you. We just do our best to keep things moving along.
