Pearl Times

Pearl Times is on 274 S C Road in Gandhi Nagar. It’s a small place, really. We spend most of the day looking at clocks and watches. People come in when their battery dies or if the strap breaks. The street outside is always noisy with cars and people heading to the market. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the shelves, but we know where everything is kept. Some of the watches have been sitting there for years, just waiting for someone to take them home. We don’t really do much advertising; people just know we’re here because we’ve been in Gandhi Nagar for a long time. It’s mostly regular work, fixing things that stop ticking. Sometimes we get a really old clock that takes a lot of patience to figure out. The light in the shop isn't the brightest, but it works for what we do. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. It’s a quiet life, mostly, just the sound of ticking in the background while the world moves fast outside on S C Road. We drink tea to pass the time during the slow afternoons. If the door bell rings, someone gets up to see what’s needed. It's just how the days go by for us here at the shop, working on tiny gears and springs and talking to neighbors from around the block.
