Down at 105 in the Selvam Industrial Estate, things stay pretty busy. We’re located right by the Housing Board area on Magadi Road, which means there’s always people moving around and trucks backing in. Omega Engineers & Manufacturers isn’t a place where you’ll find polished floors or people in ties. It’s a workshop, plain and simple. We’ve got metal shavings on the floor and the smell of cutting oil in the air most of the time. My father started working with metal years ago, and some of that old-school way of doing things still sticks with us. We use machines that have been around a while because they still work just fine if you treat them right. The team here is mostly guys from the local neighborhood who don’t mind the heat or the noise. We don’t have a website that’s updated every day or a salesperson who calls you ten times a week. Usually, people just know we’re here and they drop by when they need something manufactured or fixed. Sometimes we mess up a measurement and have to start over, which is frustrating, but we’d rather do it again than send out something that’s not right. We take our breaks together and talk about whatever is happening in the news while we eat. It’s a very basic way of running a business, but it’s worked for us so far without any of that corporate fluff people use these days. We just make sure the work is solid and the client is satisfied.
