New Karnataka Engineering Works

New Karnataka Engineering Works is over at 142/1 on Masque Road in the Hebbal Farm Post area. It’s a part of town that has its own rhythm. We have been working out of this shop for quite some time now. It’s a basic setup, really. We have the lathes and the milling machines taking up most of the space inside. The light comes in through the front, and we have a few bulbs hanging from the ceiling for when the sun starts to fade. Being on Masque Road, we hear the call to prayer several times a day, which sort of marks the time for us as we work. The neighborhood around Hebbal Farm Post is a mix of small houses and other little workshops like ours. We mostly deal with metal parts that need turning or fixing. It is not the kind of work you can do with clean hands. By midday, we are usually covered in oil and fine metal shavings. We don't spend money on marketing or fancy signs. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them we could fix whatever they had. We just focus on the measurements and making sure the pieces fit together the way they should. It can get quite loud when all the machines are running at once, so we don't talk much while we are working. We just keep our heads down and get through the list of jobs for the day. It is a quiet, hardworking life that suits us just fine.
